I’m looking for someone who can make me a slab 15 x 15 x 1.5″ to raise the floor of the bake oven in our heater, so we don;t have to lift heavy pots, etc. over the door ledge. Any suggestions? I am in Manitoba, central Canada.

I would suggest laying in 1.25″ thick firebricks (“firebrick splits”) to raise the floor, as an alternative to a one-off custom casting. Another possibility would be to source a 1.25″ thick soapstone slab.

At HWI we would be able to supply a precast and fired piece to this dimension. The customization cost would be minimal with a simple shape like this and the use of disposable molds.
